As topical as today's headlines, this is a portrait of the incredibly conflicted but extraordinary lives of Iraqi women: a sexy painter, a radical Communist, doctors, exiles, wives and lovers. This work explores the conflicting aspects of what it means to be a woman in the war zone that is Iraq. A timely meditation on the ancient, the modern and the feminine in a country overshadowed by war. "Powerful, impassioned, vivid, memorable! The voices are a study in contrasts... But they cohere to form a powerful collective portrait of suffering and endurance," says the New York Times. Starring Sarab Kamoo (Maiden's Prayer, Taking Leave, A Doll's House) Directed by Ed Nahhat. In association with Water Works Theatre Company and the Arab Theatrical Arts Guild. Single tickets available now! A benefit performance for the Iraqi refugee and displaced family programs of the Arab American and Chaldean Council (ACC) will take place on Thursday, October 23 at 8pm. |
